Twitter Creek Gardens is situated on a 10 acre parcel of land located in the hills of Homer, Alaska. We are a small scale CSA and market garden. Currently one acre of land is under production. We are hoping to increase our CSA memberships and continue to work on nourishing our soil. We are slowly developing season extending methods and storage techniques to secure food through the winter. Our infrastructure includes a 96ft x 26ft high tunnel, a passive solar greenhouse (under construction) and a root cellar. Bees are kept for honey collection and pollination, and chickens are kept for eggs and compost. We are active members of the first schoolyard garden in Homer and look forward to aid in the development of more.

We grow a large variety of crops including;
salad mixes, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, chard, collards, turnips, rutabagas, garlic, leeks, onions, radishes, pac choi and more.
Our high tunnel allows us to grow some warmer loving crops like tomatoes, squash and zucchini while our cool summers increase the sweetness in our outdoor crops like turnips and carrots.

Growing Methods:
Though we are not organically certified we do have a commitment to using deep organic practices.  We use soil amendments including; greensand, lime, blood meal and bone meal in addition to compost made on site.  No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used in our production.

Where to Buy Our Products:
We have a 25 member CSA, hoping to increase to 30 for 2012, as well as a stand at the Homer Farmers’ Market.  The market is held Wednesdays from 3-6pm and Saturdays from 10am-3pm during the months of June - mid October.  Our produce can also be found in Homer area restaurants including; Two Sister’s Bakery, Mermaid Café and The Homestead.

Educational or Work Opportunities:
We offer two internships from the May through October.  Interns work along farmers in all aspects of farming.  Including cultivating, sowing, harvesting, weeding, marketing, CSA distribution and more.  Interns also have the opportunity to be involved in the school garden projects as well as beekeeping and chicken raising on the farm.
